Billing Brook School

Speech and Language Therapy (SALT)

Currently Billing Brook employs a full-time Speech & Language Therapists (SALT).

Our therapist  works in a variety of ways. She will work directly with pupils to assess individual needs. This results in communication targets being set and worked on throughout the school day.  Our therapist observes progress in class and supports staff to ensure that programmes are adjusted to reflect the progress the child or young person makes. Training and guidance are key ingredients to our SALT offer including liaising with parents.

Billing Brook is committed ensuring pupils access an environment that promotes  communication. This includes using various communication approaches during daily activities, such as TEACCH, PECS, Social Stories, symbols and photographs and Makaton.

Reports are written for annual reviews and at the end of the school year to inform parents about communication progress. Our therapist is available for parent meetings on request.
